Ways to use essential oils for Olfactory and Psycho Aromatherapy

A great way to impact an entire room or a group of people is by using an essential oil diffuser. A diffuser is a device that spreads the aromatic molecules of essential oils throughout the air. There are two main types of diffusers:

Two Most Common Diffusers:

NebulizingNebulizing diffusers do not use any water. Like the ultrasonic diffuser, there is a reservoir where the essential oil resides.Nebulizing Diffuser Sitting directly above the reservoir is a small tube that is attached to an air pump. The air pump blows air across the top of the tube. As the air travels across the top of the tube, it creates a vacuum. The vacuum's suction pulls fine particles of the essential oil up and sprays them into the unit's air. Nebulizing diffusers are a popular choice when you are trying to intoxicate an area quickly with essential oil. Obviously, nebulizing diffusers do not have a humidifying effect because of the reservoir's lack of water. Because of this, they tend to be smaller than ultrasonic diffusers. The most significant benefit of a nebulizing diffuser is that they disperse essential oils significantly faster than an ultrasonic diffuser and at a higher concentration. However,  one downside to nebulizing diffusers is that they go through a lot more oil faster than ultrasonic diffusers. For comparison, imagine that a nebulizer might require 20-30 or more oil drops for a single session, whereas an ultrasonic diffuser might require only a few drops of oil. The aroma produced by the nebulizer will be more potent since the oils haven't been diluted with water, but it won't last anywhere near as long. Think of the nebulizing diffuser as your more expensive option, not only in terms of the diffuser's cost but also how much essential oil you will use within a session. So when would you use a nebulizing diffuser? There are two scenarios where a nebulizing diffuser would be a better option over ultrasonic. One, if you are trying to cover a larger area of space. Since nebulizing diffusers output a more concentrated amount of essential oil, it can effectively cover a larger room second, if you are dead set on not diffusing with humidity.

Ultra-Sonic (Budget-Friendly Option): An ultrasonic diffuser is a unique companion to essential oils. This style of diffuser uses a ultrasonicceramic diaphragm that vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency. This vibrational frequency creates ultra-fine water droplets that form a mist; as the mist leaves the diffuser's reservoir, the aromatic molecules of the essential oil lift into the air with the water molecules. This process creates a cool air mist loaded with the therapeutic benefits of essential oils. An ultrasonic diffuser is an attractive option for everyday aromatherapy for two main reasons; first, because the essential oils are combined in a reservoir with water, ultrasonic diffusers allow you to diffuse your favorite aroma for a more extended period.  Second, they are easy to clean and provide a simple way of changing from one aroma to the next.have a humidifying effect because of the reservoir's lack of water.
