Properly Diluting Essential Oils for Children
We know our community understands that essential oils are a great choice in caring for young children and babies. It is important to remember that their young systems are still developing and are very sensitive. Here are our recommended guidelines to keep children safe by diluting essential oils with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil, olive oil, camelina oil, avocado oil, etc. when using topically. See below for further information on dilution. Ages 6 mo. – 2 yrs. 8:1 Ratio Neat: 8 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil Sensitive: 40 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil Recommended: Do not apply more than 3 times throughout the day. Up to 2-3 drops per application. Ages 2 -6 yrs. 4:1 Ratio Neat: 4 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil Sensitive: 20 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil Recommended: Do not apply more than 3 times throughout the day. Up to 3-5 drops per application. Ages 7-11 yrs. 2:1 Ratio Neat: 2 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil. Sensitive: 10 drops carrier oil to 1 drop essential oil Recommended: Do not apply more than 3-5 times throughout the day. Up to 4-8 drops per application. The topical application of essential oils is one of the most popular uses and has many benefits. However, because essential oils are highly concentrated and potent, it’s important to understand how to dilute when necessary. A good rule of thumb is to use less rather than more. All Be Young essential oils and blends are classified into three categories Neat, Sensitive, and Photosensitive. • Neat means no dilution is necessary for adults • Sensitive means dilution is recommended • Photosensitive means the essential oil will react (and can cause sunburns) if exposed to the UV rays of the sun. Photosensitive oils should not be used if direct sun exposure is expected immediately after use or up to 12 hours after application of oil.

Are you sensitive to essential oils? Here are the signs
Using essential oils is an enjoyable and empowering experience. If you are new to essential oils, watch for signs that your body may be more sensitive than most. You may be using too much for your system and should dilute more than our recommendations if you notice the following: Your skin becomes less moisturized or begins to look leathery in the application area The application area becomes itchy or irritated You develop a headache shortly after using any essential oil (Tip: Drink an additional 16-20 oz. of water for the next 2-3 days and stop using essential oils until the symptoms subside. If you wish to continue using essential oils reintroduce them to your system in a more diluted form and with less frequency of application.) The essential oil is not fully absorbing into the skin within 5-7 minutes. (For children absorption may take up to 15 minutes due to carrier oil.) You should always perform a patch test before using any new essential oil. You can read about that HERE Because essential oils are aromatic by nature, they will quickly diffuse into the air. If you want a longer-lasting effect from your essential oils please follow these tips: Dilute: Slow Absorption and Prolong Effects By diluting your essential oils when applying them to the skin it slows down the rate of absorption and the amount of essential oil that is lost in the air. Moist Warm Compress: Increases Absorption and Speeds up Effect Because essential oils are lipophilic, by adding a warm moist cloth compress to the area, the hydrophilic nature of the water will repel the essential oil and Consequently, driving more essential oil into the skin and epidermis.

How Our Environment Is Making Us Sick- The Truth About Free Radicals
Not everyone understands the impact free radicals can have throughout the body. If you're heard the term "free radicals" but don't quite see how it applies to you, keep reading. Here are some ways Free Radicals have an impact on your body Brain Disfunction The brain requires 4 trillion molecules of ATP (adenosine triphosphate (energy molecules)) each minute. The process of producing ATP is a highly oxidative process that naturally produces billions of free radicals. Unfortunately, the brain's antioxidant defense is reduced due to low antioxidants in the average American’s diet, making it vulnerable to free radical damage and dysfunction. Hearing Loss Age and noise-related hearing loss are accompanied by an immune response and inflammation and free radicals formation. Without an antioxidant termination process, continued hearing loss is the natural result. Pregnancy The demands of pregnancy and childbirth can leave mother and child more susceptible to disorders associated with free radical damage (Respiratory issues, eyesight issues, low birth weight, etc.) due to the high antioxidant reserves dedicated to the growing fetus. Beauty & Integumentary System (Skin) Exposure to environmental factors such as sun, smoking, and air pollution can increase oxidative stress on the skin. Free radicals degrade and destroy the elastin and collagen in skin cells leading to thickening of the skin, more noticeable discoloration, and exaggerated wrinkles. Cardiovascular Disease Many cardiovascular conditions initiate with free radical attack. LDL (low-density lipid (bad cholesterol)) particles easily pass between the cells and stay inside the cell membrane. LDL particles are comprised of fat molecules susceptible to free radical oxidation that can trigger an inflammatory response. Over time, if this process is propagated due to a breakdown of the antioxidant defense mechanisms, the termination process never occurs, leading to a build-up of fatty deposits called plaque that eventually can form an arterial blockage. Mental Conditions Free radicals play an important role in cellular signaling and comminutions. With alterations of antioxidant defense systems, processes including energy production, inflammation, impairment of cell signaling, and the generation of neurotransmitters (GABA, Serotonin, and Dopamine) can be interrupted. Eye Damage The eyes are very likely to be damaged by free radicals due to ultraviolet light (the sun), blue light (tv, phone, and computer screens), and their naturally high metabolic rate. This leads to degradation (macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and retinitis pigmentosa.) Metabolic Syndrome People who suffer from metabolic syndrome often experience hyperglycemia (elevated levels of blood sugar). Chronic hyperglycemia primes the innate immune system for an exaggerated inflammatory response. This is the perfect environment for free radical propagation. Frequent hyperglycemia reoccurrences deplete the body’s antioxidant reserves and allow metabolic syndrome to progress to more serious conditions. Antioxidants are the path to better health! Antioxidants are found abundantly in several natural sources, including fruits, vegetables, seafood, and protein. These sources are known as exogenous antioxidants meaning they come from outside the body. The body cannot produce these antioxidants by itself, but they are essential to the formation of antioxidants within the body. The body also has a natural enzymatic process for generating antioxidants internally. These antioxidants are called endogenous antioxidants, indicating they come from within the body. Endogenic antioxidants are especially efficient in terminating free radicals. Daily supplementing with broad-spectrum and concentrated antioxidant, multivitamin, and mineral supplements help the body to control oxidative and free radical processes. Reducing sugar, refined foods, processed meats, and daily exposure to environmental contaminants assist the body to have a strong free-radical defense system.

Vegan Omega-3 Fish Oil Alternative
Did you know Omega fatty acids are an essential nutrient required for proper health and vitality? Omega-3 fatty acids are part of a signaling process that tells the body to reduce to stop inflammation. In contrast, its older brother Omega-6 promotes inflammatory signaling within the body. However, this inflammation is not a bad thing. If the body does not have proper inflammatory responses, the immune system will become utterly useless. It is a delicate balance between omega-3 and omega-6 that supports appropriate inflammatory responses. While omega-3 fatty acids are in ample supply in plants, our body doesn't have an adequate method to convert them into what we need. Omega-3 supports several health functions, including cardiovascular function, brain function, eye health, and overall wellness and prevention of disease. The best source of Omega-3 fatty acid is DHA and EPA is from fish and marine animals that consume algae as its primary food source. However, with a growing world population, fish and marine animal sources are not sustainable and are tainted with mercury and other heavy metals. Younifi's Omega is a solution to this problem. It is among the first plant-based Omega-3 that delivers the benefits of Omega-3 and (EPA) and (DHA) fatty acids in a single, quality source. Younifi's Omega contains DHA, and EPA is the proper ratio of 2:1 and is produced from a clean and sustainable source of marine algae. The best part is there is no fishy odor or after-taste, and it is 100% vegan! So enjoy better health in a better and more sustainable way!
